About Me

Pronunciation class at CRC, 2010

My name is Jenna, and I am a professor of English as a Second Language at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California.  I have been teaching ESL for 13 years.  I love teaching at CRC because the students are very diverse– they come from all over the world and from many different cultures.  As a result, I am never bored meeting them and learning about their lives and native countries.  While I honor students’ native cultures, I also strongly encourage them to assimilate to U.S. culture in order for them to have a richer experience living in this country.

Some of the things I stress in my teaching are listening and speaking skills, fluency, using technology, and building confidence to be successful in whatever students choose to do in their lives.  I especially love teaching pronunciation, speaking, and grammar.
